Urban Kitchen Coalition
Project details
Project length: 4 week project
Role & responsibilities: UX Researcher and Designer, website creation via Wix.com
Problem statement: UKC needed a landing page for their organization within a month of startup, but needed it to be warm and inviting to protentional donors.
The solution: Create a inviting landing page that presents UKC's message clearly and simply for any user who accesses the website.
company overview
The Urban Kitchen Coalition is a non-profit organization set on fighting childhood hunger. Our mission is to serve under resourced children nutritionally whole meals to meet their foundational needs, allowing them to better focus and succeed
Why?
UKC provides daily after school meals to under resourced, at-risk children and youths; one plate, one bowl, one child at a time.
Research
The purpose of this survey was specifically to figure out two thing; what causes people care about and what people are willing to contribute to those causes.
With this data, I was able to move forward into the next step which was conducting solo interviews with 5 people
I took the information provided from the interviews and arranged it into specific groups. With this date, I created a User Persona
Design
After presentation to my client, I created a mid-fi wireframe with their logo and a style guide.
The color palette was based on the logo that the client provided me
With the mid-fi wireframe and style guide, I created their hi-fi wireframe
With this hi-fi prototype, I moved to create their website via wix.com
Conclusion
Final thoughts
Getting to the website creation was a challenge, but trusting the process and understand the client's needs with open communication made it a simple process.
Next steps
Continue to monitor and check web traffic for UKC and explore themes based on the season.
